Veterans Day
I’m a grandchild, child, and spouse of members of the US armed forces. I’ve lived on a military base, and I’ve volunteered with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society. I know the challenges and sacrifices of military families. I also know the incredible strength that they live with.
Thank you to those who have served the country in uniform. We owe you better than a free cup of coffee once a year. VA services must be accessible to everyone qualified. Translating military experience to out-of-service jobs and living situations can be better supported. And, more than anything, we must look for ways to address the mental health and physical safety problems within our current systems.
